My comitments toward peace

I have always tried to contribute towards peace like donating money to the poor or helping out people who need it. When someone is depressed or needs attention, I tell them that I'll be there for them. My short commitment will be to continue and improve my assistance to people who need it. My long term goal is to donate money and lend a helping hand to an organization contributing towards peace.

News in current time is filled with homicides, suicides, bank robberies, and politics. After so much repeated information, the news gets boring after a while. No one watches it anymore. It’s not like it helps us contribute to our future. The future towards peace is how it has always been, worthless. Not knowing what is going on out there or who is running to district attorney may affect our future as well as eating the right foods or remembering to Tivo the last episode of Jersey Shore. By the way, who watches politics? No one does. Has anyone ever watched it before anyways, besides the winner of presidential elections? I would want to know who runs the country. Don’t all political leaders run the country though? Who knows and who cares. Exactly, no one does. This trend of the lack of political knowledge is slowly leading us into a world of disasters and non-peaceful events. I bet if someone running for office says that they will improve cable, it will certainly grab viewers’ attention. Maybe that’s what officials need to do. They should say, “Our countries economy is falling, and we certainly need to get better cable systems for our Sunday football games.” Oh, the votes they will receive. Is there any political candidate smart enough to reach the audience in that certain form? I doubt it. There are so little things to talk about and so much time. Candidates need to reach out to the people about voting before they talk about our country.
Adults promote voting so much that they don’t have enough time to stop by the local corner store, buy coffee, and build up a friendly conversation with the cashier anymore. Whatever happened to U.S. citizens in America? Oh yea, they got taken over by immigrants from Mexico. Maybe that will kick up a start into actual voting. Voting is the base of all countries out there. We should be proud to have the right to vote. Where exactly do I go to vote though? Even I, who registered not too long ago, don’t know what exactly to do or go to. This country is certainly heading towards something bad.
We have too much stress on us to care about politics. Trying to work two jobs, pay bills, feed our families, and get sleep is already a handful. What can I say, politics isn’t fun. It’s a bunch of old people going on about who knows what. I rather sleep then watch ten minutes of it. To actually understand what they say, is another thing. Using big words doesn’t appeal to a teenager like me. Yea, ok, I understand that it is important to know who is trying to do what. Print me out a paper and put some jargon into it. Maybe I’ll take time to read it and actually try to understand. Also, we’re too lazy to follow our countries crisis. As a matter of fact, we’re so lazy that we’re obese. Wasn’t that and issue not too long ago? I don’t know. I didn’t follow the news. The country isn’t going to change. If in this recession people don’t care, what makes you think they will care in the future? I think we expect to see actual improvements by leaders before we realize that we can actually make changes. I, personally, don’t see how my vote can make a change.
As far as having peaceful world, it’s not going to happen. Not being politically aware ruins our chances towards a better country. If we knew exactly what each political leader is trying to do and the changes he or she brings, we might have a chance. What am I kidding; this will be a better world if we all were caught up with the politicians. We would all know who to vote for and improve our economy. Improving the economy will most likely reduce crime, at least robberies, causing some peace. A lot of crime such as theft, assault, and attempted murder can be caused by poor economy. The economy has a big impact on our lives. It can cause peace, but it can also cause chaos.

War in J-Town

This is just incredible how this drug war can go out of control. After attempts from the government to stop this, it still goes on and they are now killing little kids. They don't even know if they have the right house or not. It dumb because in the United States, if a massive crime happens, the suspects are captured right away! Mexico's government is so corrupted that they can't fix any problems. They should just spread military all over the place!!! and even cops. They should ask help from America!!!

Seeds of Peace

Fighting is a very destructive way to get what you want. War is even worse. The world is full of war and violence causing great casualties and fear in families living in war zones. Terrorists and rebels create battle grounds in civil places for religious or territorial reasons, not affiliated with the civilians in that region. There are never-ending battles in middle- eastern countries.  Palestine and Israel are known for fighting against each other recently.  Governments rarely try to help to calm or resolve these conflicts. Peace, certainly, does not exist in these areas and makes it extremely uncomfortable for children to enjoy their childhood.  They grow up with bombings and shootings. Soldiers persuade them into joining the cause. They teach them to fight for their religion and kill the enemies. It all starts from childhood. We have to educate the children to change the world. The right education is the key to a kid’s future and the countries future as well.

Seeds of Peace is an organization that started in 1993. They teach young adults, from countries that suffer hardships, the right leadership skills to bring peace to areas of conflict. People from Jordan, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Israel, and Cyrus come from their country to the U.S.  The young people attend a yearly camp in Oatisfield, Maine. They also attend one back in their own country that gives them opportunities to see leadership skills by bringing people together for talks, services, and respect.    The campers are known as seeds. This refers to young people growing up and making a difference such as a seed grown into a tree. The program provides speeches, talks from adults, dialogue meetings, conferences, and workshops. These activities further their education into creating a non-violence environment in their own community.  Seeds of Peace’s goal is to eventually stop wars and other violence in the world.

In order to promote this program and to spread the news, Seeds of Peace communicates in several ways. They mostly use the web to show there activities.  They have their own website where they have tabs to show what their organization is about and, it also displays different events occurring now or events in the future.  It explains how the program, started and by whom. They have tabs on how to make donations or help out and their sponsors. It also has plenty of pictures to show how much fun the youngsters are having. They have a facebook which is very popular to people of any age.  It connects people from all over the world using one network. It also allows people to post bulletins and pictures. Twitter is common to young adults and it focuses on current events on which the program is hosting. Flickr and Youtube showcase the events using pictures or videos to get out a message or attract individuals. This is a great way of communication because Youtube is known worldwide and videos are shown randomly on different screens and links so it spreads out quickly. Can you really build peace?

Peace is a very hard goal to achieve because we naturally have the tendency to fight or be selfish in our lives. Although tough to achieve, peace can be built. I’ve always been told if you do something nice for someone, they’ll remember you and when you need help, they’ll be there. People always say Karma is out to get you when you do something bad. Well, Karma also follows you when you do good. Greg Mortenson, from the clip Building Peace, got help from people in Pakistan after getting lost from a group he was with. He saw the good in them. Greg thanked them by building a school for the kids to get an education. Education is the base of every life. Education builds peace. Karma followed the people after helping Greg. Also, Greg must’ve been a really great guy in order to help them. He wasn’t selfish. With his help, children, including woman, got an education. This was crucial. Woman need to know how to take care of their body’s when pregnant and how not to over populate. They’re the key to creating new life. Education is the key to a creating a great nation. Great nations are smart and know how to resolve problems without war. They build peace.

Enemy

I have had a lot of enemies in my past, especially in my high school years. Many have been my friends turned enemies or those that just come out of the blue. Some are even by accident like those cases seen in little kid’s movies. I remember one time where I ran into some chola girl while I was messing around with some friends. She mad dogged me like no one has before. Even my friends s5tarted laughing of how funny it was. Well because we were messing around they locked me out of the building. I decided to go around and sneak in from the other side. When I arrived there, they told me she came back with her cholo friends to kick my butt. It was weird how my instinct told me to go around. Well I didn’t know her at all. I’ve never seen her before I’ve never spoken to her besides the” I’m sorry” line I said when I bumped into her. I didn’t know her story. Maybe she had a troubled life. Maybe, I offended her in a way or something. The point is she was my enemy for that one instant, even though I didn’t know her at all. My friends have become my enemies before also. I may have known them but I truly didn’t know “ them”. I didn’t know most of their past or how they were angered by me enough to betray me. Well most of my friends turned out that way. I truly never had a close friend because I didn’t get to know them. So, knowing someone’s past helps you into not becoming enemies. In ways, you can share stories or compare your history with them. Maybe you have nothing in common but they need someone to talk to them or maybe you should get out of there way next time your messing around with your friends. I believed knowing someone’s past helped but It’s truly up to you or the other person to create enemies on your own. Even if you know them, conflict can abrupt. Gene Hoffman said, “ An enemy is a person whose story we have not heard yet”. I can tell he's a caring type but I believe he can be wrong on some circumstances. He can be the kindest person in the world but be blind to people who have hatred towards them.
